Westshore Rebels Spring Camp May 4-6th Brings Talented Prospects to Victoria

For immediate release

Victoria, BC, Canada – May 3, 2017 – Coach Cardilicchia is back for his second season as Head Coach of the Westshore Rebels. In the off-season he has been spending his time recruiting players from across the Country, including hosting an ID Camp in Calgary, in hopes of finding worthy replacements for many of his top 2017 players who have aged out of Junior football.

Trey Campbell, Running Back will be playing for the University of Alberta, Christian Kraus and Tyson Thompson, Offensive Lineman, along with Quarterback Scott Borden will be playing at the University of Manitoba and many others have recently been accepted into USport schools.

“There are some big shoes to fill on our team this season. I am happy to see so many of our players continuing their football careers at the USport level. That is what coaching is all about - you Coach them up to move on to greater things. We had an exceptional team last season and I am confident we will continue to be strong competitors in the Canadian Junior Football League,” states Cardilicchia.

Talented prospects are coming from as far away as Toronto. You will also see many Rebels players returning to the Westhills field for Spring Camp. New players already committed to the Westshore Rebels include Lako Lawhya, Defensive End and 3-time Canadian team player and former player of the University of Windsor, and Khaliel James, Running Back who recently played at York University will be in attendance. Khaliel played at Catholic Central and was one of two high school athletes to ever win the “Wesby” award for Windsor Male Athlete of the Year, the other is the Dallas Cowboys Tyrone Crawford.

With an already experienced coaching staff, Coach Cardilicchia has also invited the following Rebels Alumni to be guest Coaches:

  • Greg Morris, Running Back – Toronto Argonauts
  • Lance Milton, Defensive Back - Formerly of the Montreal Allouettes and UBC Thunderbirds
  • Karim Lowen, Running Back – Former Manitoba Bison (Vanier Cup Champion 2007)
  • Nate Cote, Quarterback – Westhore Rebels (MVP 2007 & BCFC record for most passing Touchdowns)
  • Paul Orazietti, Associate Head Coach & Special Teams Coordinator UBC Thunderbirds. Played for University of Queens and University of BC
  • Sam Narkaj, Defensive Lineman, All-Canadian formerly of Concordia University

Greg Morris is a Rebels Alumni from 2011-2012 where he had back to back 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He also set the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) single game rushing mark in an outstanding performance in which he rushed for 405 yards and is now in his 3rd season in the CFL.

“I am looking forward to being back on Vancouver Island and helping out a team that is close to my heart. I have a lot of memories playing in Victoria and look forward to providing guidance and support at the Rebels Spring Camp”, states Morris.

The Westshore Rebels Spring Camp is being held at Westhills Stadium (1089 Langford Parkway) from May 4-6th and is open to the public if they want to come and watch the action.
