The 2023 Westshore Rebels will feature phenomenal athletes coming from across Canada to play for an elite program. These players come as student athletes pursuing next level opportunities as they participate in the Westshore Rebels Football Program.
The Rebels require assistance housing these student athletes and are seeking both room rentals and billet families. Student athletes will pay for room rentals or billet fees, and the team will provide 2023 Rebels Season Tickets to all billet families.
Billet families will provide players with a home away from home. Along with providing a room, some meals and occasional transportation, the billet family will provide an environment of support and trust for the players. Providing housing for Rebels athletes is a rewarding experience, as billet families will gain a new family member with tremendous potential. Billet families will get the opportunity to help monitor the development of a player as he strives for University and professional football opportunities.
If you are interested in providing a room rental or a billet for one of our student athletes, the Rebels would love to hear from you! Please contact our Rebels Housing Coordinator at housing@westshorerebels.ca
General Information on Player Housing
ROOM RENTAL
Includes renting a house, apartment or room and may include meals for an additional cost. Players are expected to be model tenants at all times and are expected to adhere to team code of conduct, house rules and team curfews as applicable
BILLETING
Billet families provide Rebel players accommodation as well as the “family" atmosphere in terms of meals etc. (see guidelines below). As Westshore Rebels players range in age from 17-22 the “family” atmosphere is one that is generally expected of a young man of that age would receive at their own home.
Billeting can be a rewarding experience for both the player and billet. Many families and players have continued the relationships long after the player has graduated from playing junior football.
Billeting is often the preferred method for our 1st or 2nd year players in the age 17-18 year old range as they transition to living on their own. Our 17-18 year player’s parents often prefer billeting for their son.
Besides agreed upon monthly billeting fee, billet families receive Westshore Rebels season tickets, including playoff and championships tickets and preferred seating.
Player Guidelines
Billet families are encouraged to make the player part of their family. Treat them as you would your own children and make them responsible for following the rules of your home. Be sure these rules have been made clear and established as early as possible. What is considered unacceptable in your home may be acceptable in theirs.
No female friends are allowed to stay overnight as guests. Female friends should only be allowed in common areas i.e. living room, kitchen, family room, etc. Please advise your Player on any visitor restrictions your family has.
Players are expected to abide by all house rules set forth by their billet family. The players are responsible to be on time for their own appointments such as school, doctor, practices, games, team functions, etc. When possible, it is appreciated when billet families can help with transportation but it is NOT required.
The players are invited to family meals, but players are responsible for their own additional meals and snacks. Billets need to make sure and advise players the acceptable times for them to use your kitchen to prepare their extra meals.
Billets should not feel responsible to provide accommodations for players’ family and friends when they are in town.
