Westshore Rebels Kick off the 2018 Football Season with Main Camp
Victoria, BC, Canada – July 13, 2018 – As Westshore Rebels embark on the 20th season since the official rebranding of the Rebels, they are excited to get the season started this weekend with Main Camp at Westhills Stadium. Players have travelled from all across Canada to join forces and will be on the field this weekend from 10am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday, some of them as first time teammates.
With many returning players from last season such as the 3-time High School Conference all-star Kaine Stevenson, Receiver from Herman High School in Windsor, Ontario, local talent Byron McKinnon, Linebacker who has played for the Rebels for a few years and originated from Mount Doug High School, and D’Saun Greenaway, Wide Receiver from York University and played for Team Canada, the Rebels team will be a strong competitor in the Canadian Junior Football League, and will be defending their 2017 BC Football Conference first place finish.
Coach Cardilicchia in the off season has been across Canada recruiting to bring impressive recruits to the Westshore Rebels, including new quarterback Mason Brown who is filling the gap after last year’s quarterback Scott Borden aged out and is now playing for the Manitoba Bisons. Mason Brown, from Hamilton Ontario, most recently played at the University of Acadia. Mason was a CFC Top 100 after playing quarterback for the Royal Imperial Collegiate of Canada and comes from a football family where his Dad previously played for CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
“I am excited to get this season started. After some of our all-star players aged out and moved on to USport teams, including Trey Campbell the number one running back in the BCFC conference, there were some pretty big shoes to fill. I have worked really hard this off season to bring exceptional talent to round off our already talented team,” states Cardilicchia.
