Volunteer Opportunity: General Manager of Operations
The Westshore Rebels Football Club is seeking a passionate and dedicated General Manager of Operations to join our team as a key volunteer. About Westshore Rebels
The Westshore Rebels are a Canadian Junior Football team based in Langford, British Columbia. The Rebels play in the seven-team BC Football Conference, which is part of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and competes annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. The club has operated continuously since the late 1960s in Victoria, having previously been known as the Sharks, Payless, and the Hornets.
Position Overview
As the General Manager of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of the Westshore Rebels and will also sit on the Board of Directors. This volunteer role is essential in ensuring the smooth running of the club’s day-to-day activities, supporting the President, Director of Football Operations and Board of Directors to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the support staff and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee and collaborate with other volunteers to ensure operations activities are being met.
- Support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship programs, and community engagement efforts.
- Manage the recruitment and coordination of volunteers for operational needs.
- Contribute to the strategic vision and long-term growth of the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Passion for football and a commitment to fostering a positive team culture.
- Experience in operations, event management, or sports administration is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a volunteer-driven environment.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer position requiring flexibility, particularly during the football season July-November. Attendance at games and regular meetings is expected.
