The Westshore Rebels mission is to help players to pursue their passion for high level football by providing exceptional player development on and off the field, while also focusing on academics and community involvement.
Top Reasons to Play for the Rebels:
Player Development - we have a highly experienced coaching team with a track record for success. We also have CFL & CIS players as permanent and guest coaches. Our focus is on teamwork, respect and leadership and we help players become the best they can be on and off the field.
High Level Training - our players train at Belmont Secondary School, Goudy Field and Starlight Stadium. Our strength and conditioning programs and facilities are designed for the development of high performing elite athletes. Our facilities are shared with Rugby Canada and the Pacific FC who play in the Canadian Premier Soccer League.
Education - we believe it is important for players to continue their education in addition to focusing on football. We provide experienced educational liaisons who are knowledgeable with educational requirements for Canadian and US educational institutions and are familiar with what it takes to play varsity sports while completing an undergraduate program. Our liaisons are available to help our players prepare and apply for University/College, students loans, etc.
Victoria is home to 3 top schools including University of Victoria, Royal Roads University and Camosun College and there are also a number of excellent online and continuing education programs available via our local school district (Sooke School District #62), if players are looking to upgrade or pursue specific courses or programs in preparation for application to post-secondary institutions.
Employment - many of our players require full-time or part-time employment to be able to afford to play football in Victoria or to continue to pursue their career interests while still playing football. We provide an employment coordinator that helps our players find work in the community and have a variety of employer contacts for players who may be looking for apprenticeship and/or training opportunities within specific trades.
Community Involvement - we are very fortunate to be playing in the City of Langford who prides itself in being a community "where it all happens" and where you can "live, work and play". In addition to hosting a variety of elite and recreational sports programs including; Rugby Canada, Pacific FC, Westshore Rebels, Langford offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, skating, hiking, biking, golf, soccer, lacrosse, hockey.
The City of Langford is a huge supporter of our team and all local minor and youth sports program and we show our appreciation by having all players volunteer their time throughout the on and off season. Our players attend community events, help coach our youth teams, attend our Victoria Day parade, Remembrance Day ceremonies, and volunteer their time in many different ways.
